Amerit History

Learn how Amerit grew from its 2010 founding, shaped by established industry relationships and customer-first approach to fleet maintenance, into a provider serving fleets across North America.

Founded in 2010

Amerit was founded in 2010 by Dan Williams and Amein Punjani. The company’s early focus was outsourced maintenance for commercial fleets, allowing businesses to have professional technicians maintain their vehicles without having to build and operate the maintenance infrastructure themselves.

Building a Nationwide Maintenance Network

Amerit wasn’t created as an overnight startup; it developed from existing relationships and experience in the fleet maintenance industry. Amerit’s growth in the first decade of the company was built on steady expansion of geographic coverage, customers, and capabilities.

Amerit’s biggest differentiator was bringing maintenance to the customer, rather than requiring every customer to transport their vehicles to a traditional repair shop.

Amerit expanded its core business offerings to on-site maintenance, mobile repair, fleet service centers, and outsourced fleet maintenance programs (vended maintenance). Mobile Service Centers became one of Amerit’s biggest service offerings and acted as a fully equipped maintenance facility on wheels.

By 2018, Amerit employed more than 1,800 technicians operating across the US. By 2026, Amerit employs more than 3,000 technicians operating across North America.

Private Equity Investments

In 2018, Ridgemont Equity Partners acquired a majority interest in Amerit. This provided capital for Amerit’s next stage of expansion and development.

In 2020, Brightstar Capital Partners acquired a majority stake in Amerit after partnering with the company’s founders and management team. This transaction reflected Amerit’s growth, from a young maintenance company into a significant national provider of fleet maintenance and services.

In 2025, New Mountain Capital made a majority investment in Amerit. New Mountain described the investment as supporting the company’s next phase of growth, including the expansion of its nationwide footprint and fleet maintenance capabilities.

Acquisitions

Amerit began building a much larger platform through acquisitions in 2025-2026:

  • Vector Fleet Management – December 2025: Amerit purchased Vector to expand government and heavy-industrial service capabilities.
  • Derotic Emergency Equipment – August 2025: Amerit purchased Derotic Emergency Equipment, a specialized government upfitting business in California and expanded capabilities for Vector under the secondary subsidiary. In July of 2026, Derotic as a brand was sunset into Amerit and is now part of the upfitting Fleet Solutions team at the company.
  • Pro Reefer – May 2026: Amerit purchased the Canadian refrigerated-trailer maintenance business, giving the company a larger North American footprint and specialization within reefer maintenance.
  • Kirk and Truck & Trailer Parts Solutions (TTPS) – July 2026: Amerit purchased Kirk and TTPS, adding over 20 physical repair locations to the company’s network. This significantly expanded Amerit’s truck/trailer maintenance and vehicle upfitting capabilities.
  • Triple Diamond Truck and Trailer Repair – July 2026: Amerit’s company Pro Reefer purchased Triple Diamond Truck and Trailer repair, a sister company of the subsidiary. This added another physical location in Canada for the Pro Reefer division to expand their service capabilities.

Amerit Today

Amerit Fleet Solutions today manages more than 350,000+ assets, employs over 3,000 technicians and operates across 1,000+ locations in North America, and in select locations overseas supporting dedicated customers.

Amerit is fundamentally a fleet maintenance provider but can assist customers with a range of full-lifecycle fleet solutions including acquisitions and disposals, compliance, fueling, roadside assistance, vendor management, EV services, and more.
